A bit different from my regular content but design based so we’re rolling with it! Do you remember time of place that sparked something major in you? I’ve always loved design, creating and thinking outside of the regular. I specifically remember when I was about 3-4 visiting my aunt Leona’s cottage in Washago and being completely in love. I remember the mural forest wall paper in the back bedroom. I remember the wrap around deck with benches, the depth of the wood and the way the carpet felt - comfort. Unfortunately I was never able to visit this cottage as an adult but I think about it very often. I feel so grateful to have stumbled upon these pictures - featuring my Grannie (my favourite person in the whole world 🤍) my beautiful Aunt and cousin and tiny me! From the hanging herbs, brass picture rails and paintings, greens yellows and wood tones - I don’t think my style has changed! It’s made me reflect on why we design or decorate our houses the way we do - what it uniquely triggers in each of us. What I would give to visit this cottage again 🤍✨

Where we head for our favourite comfort food or preparing to host our loved ones - the kitchen is often the heart of the home. I love designing kitchens because they are also so unique just like us. We all seek comfort or things we like in different ways and that can really shine through when designing our kitchens. From how we want it to function to the aesthetic feel, it’s all deeply personal! We’re finishing up some kitchen builds and starting some new ones - but in the mean time here is one of my favourite cottage kitchens built on beautiful Stoney Lake. 🤍✨

Have you considered being your own General Contractor, Project Manager or Interior Designer? Now I commend anyone who takes on the task of designing, building / managing their own home build - you’re making dreams come true - GO YOU!! But would you make that sizeable investment in the stock market or buy an expensive item without consulting professionals? I’m sure you’d do plenty of research but how much time would you have to invest to feel as informed as someone who does this all of the time? what if you could; ✨invest a small percentage of your overall investment in support that made you feel less anxious about the large task ahead ✨ save time and money - not having to repurchase item’s that didn’t work or perhaps arrive on time or work with install specs ✨ have the peace of mind knowing your home will be cohesive and with the right products because you had someone on your team who really knows this stuff I highly recommend having a knowledgeable build team to have your back - with a designer and general contractor in your corner. Levels of design support are often flexible and you may be surprised how well it fits your budget and what benefits are included! There are so many talented professionals in our area - check them out! 👏👏👏

✨PROCESS✨ When I start to work with clients - explaining the process and setting expectations is very important! We work through a specific process to set us up for success during production. Having the time to iron out all design ideas, finish selections and installation plans (as well an ordering timeline) ensures less surprises and sets up our contractors and sub-trades the best we can. Allowing 6-12 months for larger projects (2-3 for smaller) preproduction can help prepare most realistic costing and a tighter timeline knowing when materials are needed, cost and time to get them on site. The level of support we provide is your choice! We have lots of experience supporting contractors on both ends of the build - design and on site and are happy to help, as well as managing our own projects to assisting clients who have decided to be their own GC.
